Asher and her 3 energetic boys are familiar faces at Ronald McDonald House WA. For more than a decade, they’ve called our Houses their home away from home.
Son Ryder was born with G/BBB Syndrome an extremely rare genetic disorder that has shaped a complex medical journey for their family. “We’ve faced plenty of challenges over the past 16 years,” Asher shares.
Between regular trips to Perth for treatment, school, work, and the everyday chaos of life, finding time to simply recharge and reconnect as a family has often felt impossible.
But this summer was different.
The family spent a week at the Ronald McDonald House Family Retreat Mandurah and it was exactly the break they needed.
“Beautiful location, we could hear the ocean at night,” Asher recalls.
Just under an hour from Perth Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House Family Retreat Mandurah gives families comfort in knowing that appointments don’t have to get in the way of making memories.
“During our stay Ryder had to attend medical appointments; however, this didn’t affect our adventures.”
And adventures they had.
Together they searched for Giants, set sail on a Pirate Cruise, explored Shoalwater and Penguin Island to spot wildlife, got lost in The Maze, played mini golf, and ventured along the Estuary and Dawesville Channel to visit Seba’s Song Giants and even spotted dolphins, including a newborn less than a week old.
At no cost to families our 3 Ronald McDonald House Family Retreats are more than just holiday homes. They are meaningful places that provide moments of togetherness and memories that will last a lifetime.
“Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity to experience Mandurah and have a lovely family getaway.
We had the best time and had some fabulous adventures.
We really appreciate everything that Ronald McDonald House has done for our family.”
