Give families with ill or injured children a special start to the day.
The Big Breakfast is a cooking program where community or corporate groups are invited to take over the kitchen of Ronald McDonald House at QEII. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, and when you’re caring for an ill or injured child, it’s the fuel you need to kick-start a day.
All cooking equipment is provided; however, groups are required to bring in their own ingredients and recipes.
The minimum age for participation in the Big Breakfast program is 16 years.
We have a maximum capacity of 10 team members in our commercial kitchen.
You’re free to prepare any style of breakfast, excluding nuts, for approximately 60 people. Popular items include sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit platters and pancakes but you are welcome to prepare different breakfast options too. You’ll have 90 minutes of ‘cook time’, factor this in when planning recipes.
You will need to bring all ingredients you’ll be using to make your menu. Download our Culinary Toolkit flyer to see what equipment and items will be available for your use in our commercial kitchen during your cooking experience.
