A specific financial gift, or pecuniary gift, is a specific dollar value set at the time you make your will to be given to a loved one, charity or organisation. This type of gift is explicitly defined with an exact monetary value (e.g. $10,000) and is distinct from asset gifts (specific items) and the remainder of the estate.
The value of pecuniary gift will decrease over time, as inflation and the cost of living increases.
Assets owned by you personally are estate assets. This means that you can specify in your will to whom the assets should be gifted. Assets can include real estate, shares, bonds and other assets like jewellery or artwork.
